Milleniad was launched in advance of celebrations surrounding the beginning of the Third Millennium, and its purpose was to license products under a common brand – Milleniad – with the tagline, “The spirit of the celebration.”
Our first challenge with this project was to design an effective symbol that would capture not only the dawn of the new millennium, but also the joy and celebration associated with this once-in-many lifetimes milestone. Our solution was a pinwheel design that married the Roman numeral for 2000 (MM) with a star-shaped child’s pinwheel. Add limitless colour flexibility and a brand was born.
As products were developed, applications of the brand were devised – everything from hang tags for garments to food packaging, wine labels, and even bar taps and neon signs for the House of Blues chain.
